Thomas hatte eine illustre Golfkarriere, in der er mehrere Profi-Titel gewann - er nahm auch an 13 Open Championships teil und wurde 1966 Zweiter hinter Jack Nicklaus bei den Open. Er war Mitglied von vier Ryder-Cup-Teams und wurde nach einer R\u00fcckenverletzung von Peter Aliss dazu inspiriert, Golfplatzdesigner zu werden. Thomas entwarf zwischen den fr\u00fchen 1970er Jahren und den fr\u00fchen 2000er Jahren fast 150 Golfpl\u00e4tze.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Almenara <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">schl\u00e4ngelt sich durch die sanfte H\u00fcgellandschaft von Sotogrande und liegt direkt neben dem Naturpark Los Alcornocales. Die 27-Loch-Anlage ist<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">er Platz besteht aus drei 9-Loch-Schleifen: Pinos, Lagos und Alcornoques - jede mit ihrem eigenen unverwechselbaren Stil. Die drei 9-Loch-Pl\u00e4tze bieten fantastische Abwechslung. Der Pinos-Kurs schl\u00e4ngelt sich wundersch\u00f6n durch malerische W\u00e4lder, w\u00e4hrend der Lagos-Kurs von einer dramatischen Landschaft profitiert, da er sich um einen gro\u00dfen See in der Mitte der Anlage bewegt. Der Alcornoques-Platz unterscheidet sich von den anderen Pl\u00e4tzen durch gro\u00dfe H\u00f6henunterschiede vom Abschlag bis zum Gr\u00fcn und ist insgesamt h\u00fcgeliger. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Im Jahr 2021 wurde der gesamte Platz von dem legend\u00e4ren lokalen Golfspieler Manuel <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Pi\u00f1ero. Pi\u00f1ero war in den 1970er Jahren ein sehr erfolgreicher Golfer auf der European Tour und gewann neun Tour-Titel.
